2018: A Year In Review

It was an incredible year filled with beautiful brides, celebrities and commercial/corporate shoots that earned us some awards and a spot in the Boston Wedding Group!

Maryelle Artistry - Boston Wedding Group

The Boston Wedding Group (BWG) is a vetted organization made up of Boston’s best wedding professionals and they chose us to be one of the three makeup artists in their group!

We’ve truly enjoyed getting to know the BWG members and networking with the best in Boston weddings.

Maryelle Artistry - Boston Wedding Group

In addition to joining this spectacular organization, we also won a couple of industry awards!

We received the 2018 Couples’ Choice Award from WeddingWire and were named Boston’s Best Makeup Artist by Boston Magazine!

We even attended the Best of Boston Weddings Award Ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton in Boston!

The industry recognition that we’ve received this year has been unbelievable. However, we know it wouldn’t be possible without our incredible clients.

That’s why, it’s the moments we’ve shared with all of them that matter most.

Danielle was absolutely thrilled with how we styled her hair and said that no one’s ever made her hair look so good. THAT is what we live for!

We’re so grateful to do what we love while making others look and feel their best. We’re thrilled with all we’ve accomplished in 2018 and look forward to another wonderful year!

How Is Bridal Makeup Different From A Corporate Or Commercial Look?

Bridal makeup is fun, personal and DIFFERENT.

It’s true! Everything from the way we approach the job to the makeup itself is different when working on a wedding.

THE APPROACH

When working with a bride, all that matters is what she likes/dislikes. Some brides like a dramatic look while others don’t like much makeup at all. So, we take the time to understand each bride’s personal style and vision during her trial. We also take into consideration the cut, style and color of her dress. This helps us to ensure the makeup style flows with her entire look.

As you can imagine our approach is extremely different when working with a commercial or corporate client. Instead of talking to the talent in our chair, we go straight to the company that hired us to understand the image / message they’d like us to propel.

THE MAKEUP

The makeup we use during our commercial and/or corporate photoshoots creates a more natural look and has a flat/matt finish and texture to it.

While bridal makeup is often more colorful, playful and glamorous.

We love working with brides and we love to give them the extra shimmer and highlight that speaks to the celebration at hand! After all, it’s one of the most important days in a bride’s life and we want to make sure she looks GREAT!

It's A Movie Star Summer For Maryelle Artistry

Comedies, dramas and documentaries… it’s been a summer full of movies for our team!

Starting with the Book Club back in May, Maryelle worked behind the scenes with Mary Steenburgen to promote the film.

Since then, she’s glammed up the photographer and filmmaker for Generation Wealth

But, it’s Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal that we want to focus on today.

These two men were childhood friends who are now staring in their own movie!

Blindspotting Maryelle Artistry

They were in Boston to promote Blindspotting and we were on site to make sure they looked their best!

However, these actors are more than just good-looking. They are talented, down to earth and genuine guys who we adore!

We wish them all the best on their new movie and encourage everyone to go see the Book Club, Generation Wealth, The Spy Who Dumped Me and Blindspotting before the summer ends!

Laughs And Lessons With The Men Behind Super Troopers 2

However, this group is more than just hilarious...

Super Troopers & Maryelle Artistry .jpg

They're an inspiration! They've showed us all where talent and determination can take you!

Super Troopers Group Maryelle Artistry .jpg

Back in 2001 these five men, who make up the comedy troupe called Broken Lizard, created the cult classic, Super Troopers. It was a low budget film that did well in the box office but not enough to excite any major studios.

However, the troopers knew their fans wanted more. So, after years of trying to make a sequel the men turned to the public for funding. Within 24 hours they raised 2 million dollars on a crowd funding website. In 30 days they had 4.7 million dollars and were back on the job!

Our team learned, laughed and were so lucky to work with this guys over a two day period from Boston to Vermont. It was so much fun that even the window washer wanted a part of the action!

So, we'd like to thank these guys for allowing us to be part of their journey and wish them all the luck in the world on their new movie!

Maryelle Artistry: A Friend and Fan of the New England Patriots

As we get ready to cheer on our home team in Super Bowl LII, we’re taking a moment to look back and be grateful for the countless times we’ve gotten to know the New England Patriots on a more personal level.

We’ve been at Gillette Stadium to get Bob Kraft ready for interviews in the locker room…

and in his box seats!

We’ve even been to Kraft’s house to get celebrities like, Katie Nolan, glammed up before the Super Bowl LI ring ceremony.

Our artists have worked with multiple celebrities and high-profile clients. However, 2017 brought us the most impressive and inspirational person yet.

Jeff Bauman & Jake Gyllenhaal

It was a pleasure to tour with Jeff Bauman and Jake Gyllenhaal while they promoted their movie, Stronger.

As we worked on Jeff’s makeup, we saw what an incredibly kind and strong person he truly is. It was an honor to make him look and feel his best.

Jeff Bauman

In the end, THAT is our passion. We take great pride in making our clients look their best. We want everyone to feel confident in their appearance and we are grateful to continue this work throughout 2018!

Behind the Brush: Boston Park Plaza

The Boston Park Plaza was an amazing location for a photoshoot! The incredibly beautiful hotel is perfect for any social occasions, including corporate meetingsweddings, and is also a delicious  place for dinner with its 5 on-location restaurant/bar options. With its luxurious atmosphere, it’s not surprising to hear that celebrities and dignitaries love to visit and dine at this hotel. Every single president of the United States has stayed at the Boston Park Plaza since its opening in 1927.

There’s nothing like  being served ice-cream in bed to complete a perfect day of shooting!

Andria and Max Murphy’s beautiful daughter would agree!

Behind the Brush: Sing Street

Working with the Irish boys of Sing Street, Fredia Walsh Peelo and Mark McKenna was an absolute delight. Also on the scene to take some great shots were photographers Dina Rudick and Joel Benjamin. Click on their names to check out their other amazing projects.

Here is a behind the scenes shot taken by Fredia’s sweet mom, Toni.

Behind the Brush: On Tour with Michael Rispoli

You know him from Sopranos, Law & Order, and many movies but now Michael Rispoli is staring in the movie Friends and Romans. Is he a good guy or “goodfella”?

Ask him yourself....Yes, you can because his doing a Q&A after the 6:50 pm show on Friday 10/23/15 at the Providence Place Cinema.

SHHHHHHHHHH ....don’t tell him you heard that from me!!!!

It's been an absolute pleasure touring with Michael Rispoli!  Here are some behind the scenes shots of what we've been up to!

Behind the Brush: Boston Magazine Politicians

Yesterday I had the pleasure of being  on set with some Boston political figures for the May issue of Boston Magazine.

I styled the makeup for Governor Charlie Baker, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito and Councillor Ayanna Pressley.  Check out some of my behind the scenes shots!

Behind the Brush: Wicked Good Cupcakes Shoot

Yesterday I was on set for the Sharktank photo shoot with Wicked Good Cupcakes and Mr. Wonderful himself, Kevin O'Leary.

I did soft makeup on the girls with an emphasis on their eyes and beautiful lashes.  For Danielle and Tracey's hair, I created natural, textural waves with a good amount of body.  Kevin arrived already pulled together and just needed a bit of powder to be camera ready.

Check out some pictures from behind the scenes!
